Food Corporation of India (FCI) is one of the premier organizations of the Government of India set-up to maintain a satisfactory level of operational and buffer stocks of food grains and distribution of the same throughout the country through the public distribution system to ensure National Food Security.
Movement of food grains involves massive bag handling operation.
FCI West Zone intended to mechanise bag handling from truck/wagon to stack point and vice versa by suitable conveyor system to improve efficiency in operations.

Reichardt - Maas – Assoziierte Architekten GmbH & Co. KG, Essen, Germany, BR Architects & Engineers, Bangalore along with Mr. Prasoon Majumder, Kolkata, India submitted a Feasibility Study which laid out the overall concept of how the same can effectively achieved.
